Loopy Madness

I have been doing my camp loopy 13 project for the past 2 days, and I must say for my first knitted shawl I am kicking butt. I have done 20cm (8in) down the center. I don't think my mojo for this will be there for the long haul, the rows are starting to drag on now and I am getting sick of looking at the same pattern repeating itself over and over and over again.

The colours in the chosen yarn are coming out better than I had hoped. I love it..

Here is what I have done so far (day2)

I was at a scout camp today knitting on it, which I thought was funny me being at an actual camp while knitting on my camp loopy project, but that is why it is taken on the dash of my car. It was so cold outside but the kids had so much fun.

My oldest son was in a billy cart race and won all 3 rounds against other cub scouts.

Camp Loopy 2013

OMG I had this thought last week that camp loopy would be a great idea. So I choose my pattern for the first challenge. I have gone with the Pogona by Stephen West, and I am going to make it out of Dream In Colour Smooshy with Cashmere in the Take A Hike colourway. I am struggling to wait till June 1st to start, but only because I have never knit a shawl so I am worried that I won't get it done in the month time frame they have set. I think I might try the beginning in a different yarn to see if I am able to make it, especially after reading the pattern...wow to a confusing beginning.

I have decided to start a podcast, it was not a fast decision I have been contemplating it for a long time. It was just a huge step forward in my life. I am looking at hosting sites for the video now and it seems that Amazon is the best choice I have. I will look around for the next few days and see how I go.

Well I am heading off to knit too many projects that I keep casting on.

Dying Nightmares

In my absent minded attempt to get more done I decided to try and do one colourway per day and in my attempts I rushed 1 and it looks so sad and unhappy. i hate scrapping, but this is definitely a sale item, however I do realize that when I say it isn't for me, it doesn't mean that someone out there wont love it.

Mind you that the rush was caused because I felt that over all I needed to go fishing on this cold and miserable day to catch absolutely nothing for the third trip in a row. I think all the fish here are on vacation and headed to waters.

OMG Too Long

I have been blocked form my blog for the past few months, so posting has been hard.

I have decided to take my shop to the local markets and get my stuff out there locally, which is a huge thing for me. I have just ordered a large amount of yarn to kettle dye up and I have some fibre due in June.

I am running my own ravelry group which I really need to get more activity happening, but to do that I myself need to be more active...Mmmm like a catch 22 situation. I have found that since I have moved to the middle of nowhere I have lost apart of myself that I am having trouble getting back. I know that my huge operation has not helped with that, but it is healing nicely at the moment.

I have been spinning some of my oldest fibres lately, which is good, and I have started knitting my oldest yarn which is good that it is out of my stash, but the motivation is just not there when all I see is the pretties I have recently dyed and purchased.

I will create another post with pics of all my progress, but it may be long and very annoying for me to think of everything to add to it.

One thing I am really hooked on at the moment, apart from playing my new zombie xbox game (Dead Island Riptide) is squid fishing. I love it, even when I sit out there for hours and catch nothing I am really enjoying the peace and quiet of late night fishing. The weather is getting  a little nasty and cold, but I am still happy to give it a go.

This is Rhys out on the pier trying to crab fish, he got 2 good size crabs and a few small to make a risotto stock for dinner, but he had so much fun trying to get them.

He caught his first fish, which was a toadie but still he loved it.

The photos aren't the best but they were taken on my blackberry and the pics I find aren't the best. I really need to pack a camera in my tackle box.

Well I better start my progress post before I forget...lol

Busy Days

Well the past few days have been so busy, me and the kids went to Hastings for the day and had so much fun with my nan. We visited the marina there and had fun playing in their super awesome park.

I finished as much of the handspun cat as I could without putting eyes and a nose on, but they are on their way from USA so now it is a waiting game.

I had so much yarn left over from this project that I made a little bird.

Well that's all I have for now, I will be back after Christmas.

HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

Birthday Mischeif

Well on Saturday it was my little ones 4th birthday, and of all days it was the only one with flash flooding storms predicted for the day. So much for a nice summer.

We ended up having a small BBQ with just family, and to add a little excitement for his birthday he decided to jump into the deep end of a pool (no he cannot swim). We were very lucky that his aunt's friend jumped in and saved him and unfortunately this won't deter him from repeating this action in the near future.

I have been working on my confetti the zombie cat project for the past 2 days, and not having the correct yarn weight means modifications to get it to look right, but they are worth it because my handspun is looking good. I love how the ears have ended up brown, this was not intentional.

I am planning on doing some scrapping soon, but it may need to wait till after Christmas, seeing it looks like a busy one for me, especially seeing I have the pleasure of doing a 3 hour stretch of gift wrapping in out local plaza on the 24th December....YAY
